Dr Nicole Sides, managing director and medical director of Compass Fertility, is the 2016 Telstra Australian Capital Territory Business Woman of the Year.

Held last night at the National Gallery of Australia, the 2016 Telstra ACT Business Women’s Awards recognised “brilliant, passionate and courageous women who are thriving in their chosen fields,” says Joe Pollard, Telstra Business Women’s Awards Ambassador, Group Executive Media, and Chief Marketing Officer.

Dr Sides took out the Entrepreneur Award, and was named overall winner, for her business Compass Fertility — a boutique, inclusive, locally-owned and operated fertility clinic that gives hope to those who wish to start a family.

With an impressive list of qualifications and work experience, Dr Sides is a well-equipped specialist medical surgeon in fertility and reproductive medicine. Through Compass Fertility, she has also established the Refugee Fertility Assistance Programme, a program that seeks to help refugees and vulnerable people who are struggling to become pregnant, many who have lost children in war zones.

Ms Pollard said the ACT winners are exceptional business women.

“Not only do they have the courage to challenge the status quo but they also demonstrate exceptional business acumen and strong leadership skills.”

State and Territory category winners will be flown to Melbourne for the National Awards judging, culminating in a glittering Gala Dinner on 16 November 2016.
