The secret to getting it sorted

Molly McLaughlin

Ticking things off your to do list is possibly the most satisfying feeling in a busy day. Luckily, a more efficient way to do just that has arrived.

Get It Sorted is a new Australian tech start-up changing the way businesses and consumers interact, and it’s launched in our very own Canberra! Hamilton Kings, the founder of Get It Sorted, wants to make our lives that little bit easier.

“Canberrans are progressive, busy and open to new ideas,” Hamilton explains. “We’re launching in Canberra because the consumers here are tech savvy and it’s a market that’s not too large so we can make sure we’re giving the best possible service.”

Hamilton has come up with a website that is the first of its kind. Get It Sorted is a free online platform that helps you find a service at a time and place which suits you. If you’re looking for a haircut or PT for example, they will send you four businesses that are available and suit your requirements.

“I see tech savvy women as our largest demographic because they’re the ones usually making decisions.” Hamilton explains. “We do the research so they can choose best option for themselves.”

From a business’ perspective, Hamilton knows what its like to deal with inefficient advertising and marketing avenues.

“I have spent ten years owning and running restaurants and catering businesses and one of the biggest issues that I faced was that I wasn’t always marketing to the right customer, I was wasting a lot of advertising dollars,” he says.

“That’s where I came up with the concept of letting businesses choose who they advertise to. The consumer tells us what they need and then the business only advertise if they are available and can help the customer.”

Hamilton knows Get It Sorted is going to be big; it’s a win-win situation for customers and businesses. Revenue stays within Australia, which he believes is exceptionally important as so many advertising and marketing dollars go offshore.

“There’s a very big future for us and its all starting in Canberra! It’s a great opportunity to give people what they need. For consumers we’re giving them their time back, and for businesses we’re allowing their advertising dollars to go further,” he says.

Hamilton can’t wait to find out what Canberrans think of Get It Sorted, and is planning to expand nationally later this year and looking for expansion into the US in 2017.
