UC Distinguished Alumni Awards now open!

Amanda Whitley

They’ve acknowledged the successes of Morris Gleitzman, George Gregan, Emma Macdonald, Suzie Hoitink and Ingrid Jonach – now it’s your chance to be recognised in the University of Canberra’s (UC) Distinguished Alumni Awards.

If you’re one of UC’s 70,000 alumni, nominations are now open for the Awards, which acknowledge the outstanding contribution made by alumni to their profession and/or communities.

The Awards were last held in 2013, where our Founder and Editor, Amanda Whitley, was recognised as a Finalist in the Alumni Excellence Award – Faculty of Arts and Design. This time around, there have been a few changes, and awards will be bestowed in the following categories:

Chancellor’s Alumni Award, in recognition of outstanding impact and achievement.

Chancellor’s Young Alumni Award, in recognition of leadership and early professional impact.

Chancellor’s Award for Contribution to Sport, in recognition of outstanding achievement in sport and contribution to sport.

Chancellor’s Award for Service and Philanthropy, in recognition of exceptional contribution to society through service and philanthropy.

Alumni Excellence Awards, in recognition of outstanding achievement in professional practice, in four categories: Art and Design; Business, Government & Law; Education, Science, Technology & Maths; and Health.

The 2015 awards will be presented at a Gala Evening at QT Canberra on Thursday 17 September, bringing together 200 alumni, donors, university leaders, business partners and students to celebrate the impact of the University on professions and the community.

You can self-nominate for the Awards, or put someone worthy forward. You can’t live in this town and not know a UC alumni…so why not encourage them to nominate! Nomination isn’t an arduous process – and it’s a great way for nominees to reflect on their successes.

To nominate, download the nomination pack from the University of Canberra Alumni page, which includes selection criteria and guidelines.

All nominations will be shortlisted and considered by the panel and the winners announced at the Awards Ceremony on 17 September 2015.
