Join HerCanberra for a night of French frivolity

Beatrice Smith

HerCanberra have always loved the Alliance Française French Film Festival.

Aside from our founder’s longtime connection with the French community of Canberra (which you can read about here), our team has always loved the chance to retreat into the chic interiors of Palace Electric every year to enjoy a smorgasbord of French cinema.

This year, we’ve taken our love affair one step further and paired up with the Festival for a very special Ladies Night on Wednesday 21 March.

Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a glass of sparkling or one of the special sparkling cocktails on offer as well as canapés and macarons as you listen to the dulcet tones of Bronte Forrester singing some gorgeous French numbers, introduced by our Associate Editor Emma Macdonald.

Bronte, a talented up and coming opera singer from the ANU School of Music and Sydney Conservatorium, is currently in rehearsal for her role as Despina in Canberra Opera’s Cosi Van Tutte to be staged later this year. On the night she will be singing three French pieces while you mingle and sip your cocktails.

Now nice and relaxed, you’ll saunter into the cinema (perhaps with a second glass) and a plate of cheese and crackers to enjoy Juliette Binoche’s latest film (because really, what is a French Film Festival without Juliette Binoche?), Let The Sunshine In.

But wait, there’s more. Two lucky guests will be going home with a bottle of Veuve Fourny Blanc de Blancs 1er Cru thanks to our lucky door prize.

Keen to join us? Tickets start from $28 per person and can be purchased here but be quick! Almost two third of the tickets are already sold.

We hope to see you on the night!
