The Nexia Fur Ball: Cough it up for the RSPCA

Helena Game

It takes a lot of time, effort and love to do the job of the RSPCA, in rescuing and caring for our furry friends.

RSPCA ACT received over 5,000 animals during 2014-15 with each of these animals needing food, shelter, one on one care and many requiring medical treatment or vaccination.

To celebrate this amazing work, shelter partners Nexia Australia have created the inaugural Fur Ball 2016, to support the RSPCA ACT, and to do it in style.

Kelly Brown, Nexia’s Director of Management Consulting and Litigation Support, says that the RSPCA was a popular choice when the firm was looking for partnerships.

“We went out to staff to ask them for recommendations, and the RSPCA came back as a clear winner,” she says. “We really wanted to put in extra effort…[The Fur Ball] is certainly a very new endeavour for our firm, we’ve never put on an event for another organisation of this scale.”

“Aside from raising money for a worthy cause, the event will also be a great opportunity to get dressed up and celebrate with our staff and clients”, says Kelly.

“I’m personally looking forward to seeing my colleagues dressed in their best,” she explains.

Hosted by Canberra-born sports reporter and presenter Erin Molan, the evening will be held at QT Canberra, and will feature a delicious three-course meal including drinks and entertainment by the Baker Boys Band.

There will also be a silent auction on the night held my, with items including a Sydney Harbour Lunch Cruise, and an 8 Week Challenge Pack provided by F45 Canberra City. LJ Hooker will also be running a live auction including an overnight stay at the National Zoo and Aquarium and even a return trip for two to Wellington, New Zealand.

For those who want to kick on later, the folks at Lucky’s Speakeasy are hosting the official after party. It’s just downstairs from the ballroom, so head on down to continue the festivities.

Those thousands of Canberrans who have previously adopted pets from the RSPCA ACT will understand why this event is so vital, however the Fur Ball will be the event to make the broader community really understand why the RSPCA needs, and deserves, our support.
