Pegasus Riding for The Disabled – bringing smiles to the faces of people with a disability

Posted on

There is nothing more heart warming than seeing a child smile. Especially when the child is sitting on a horse, something many people find both daunting and impossible.

Pegasus Riding for The Disabled is one of Canberra’s most beautiful additions to the disabled community. Pegasus is an all-inclusive horse riding school that provides people with disabilities with the opportunity to learn how to ride a horse and interact in a farm environment.

Without community support, Pegasus couldn’t exist. Putting the ability into disability, Pegasus is a not-for profit charity organisation that aims to get as many people with disabilities on a horse. With a whopping 270 active volunteers, Pegasus’s camaraderie within the organisation speaks wonders about the positive impact the organisation leaves within the Canberra disabled community.

Supporting Pegasus in their quest to provide a safe farm environment for people with disabilities to learn how to ride, is easy peasy via donations or volunteering.

Pegasus is hosting an Open day on Saturday 31 May and you are invited to join in on the fun – it will include a jumping castle, face painting, food, hobby stalls and entertainment. It wouldn’t be a farm open day without riding demonstrations and horse parades, so never fear, they will both be there!

Senator Zed Seselja will officially kick off the open day at 11:30am and if you’re thinking of heading over, 11:35am (not a second later!) is the time to be there. The obstacle race and sponsor run will be in full steam and we’re assured that this is the event of the century!
