RSPCA ACT High Tea with Peter Alexander

Giant pink doors. Colourful and fun displays. Amazing sleepwear.

Before you even see the words you know you’re looking at a Peter Alexander store. But who is the man behind the creations inside? This is your chance to find out.

On Friday, 20 November, RSPCA ACT is hosting a fundraising high tea with Peter Alexander. Peter rarely speaks in public, so this is a special opportunity to hear from the “Sleepwear King” himself, while indulging in delicious food.

Peter’s story is an inspirational one—after struggling with learning disabilities at school, he identified a gap in the market for women’s pyjamas and started his own business.

That business now has more than 50 boutiques in Australia and New Zealand, and has grown to include daywear, gift ware, and men’s sleepwear (as well as a celebrity following). As an owner of several items of Peter Alexander clothing, I can attest for their popularity—they’re really, really comfortable and the designs are fun and stylish.

It’s also heartening to know that Peter, like many other successful people, has used his achievements to give back. He is an avid supporter of the RSPCA and an ambassador for animal welfare. Which brings us back to the high tea.

All funds raised from the event will go to RPSCA ACT for vet treatment, desexing, and care for the many kittens and pregnant cats that will arrive at the shelter in Weston over the coming months.

October to March is RSPCA ACT’s peak cat season, and they already have 72 kittens in foster care who will go up for adoption when they are old enough (so if you’re looking for a pet cat, you should pay them a visit!).

During the high tea, Peter will be sharing his story, passion for animals, and business experience—who knows, maybe hearing about his journey will inspire you to follow your own dreams and give you ideas on how to get there!

In addition to the opportunity to hear Peter speak and knowing you’re supporting a good cause, the high tea will include bubbles on arrival, delicious food, a raffle and silent auction, free tastings of wine from Murrubateman Winery, and exclusive signed Peter Alexander merchandise.

The menu for the high tea sounds amazing. It includes:

  • king smoked salmon and wasabi avocado scroll
  • sous-vide poached curried free range chicken breast and tarragon slider
  • sundried tomato, cream cheese and cucumber triangle
  • buttermilk scones, berries and rose petal conserve, crème fraiche
  • passionfruit and salted caramel cheesecake bite
  • mini elderflower and honeycomb cupcake
  • bergamot curd and chocolate tartlet
  • red fruit macaron and Persian fairy floss.

So if this sounds like your cup of tea (pun intended), make sure you get your tickets as soon as possible, as I’m sure it’ll be as popular as Peter’s pyjamas!
