Throughout November over 100 events, exhibitions, talks, tours, activations, markets, collaborations, artist studios and open homes will be showcased as DESIGN Canberra. See the nation’s capital transformed into a new platform for the best in design.

DESIGN Canberra 2017 will be inspired by the spirit of modernism, a celebration of the creativity, experimentation and optimism for which Canberra’s mid-century architecture is acclaimed. The event will be led by the idea of Canberra as a living design laboratory; a global city of design.

From the time of Walter and Marion Griffin’s visionary design a century ago, to iconic experimental modernist architecture of the 1950s and 60s, through to contemporary and sustainable design developments today, Canberra has been – and will always be – a living design laboratory.

The festival, now in its 4th year, is for all interests and ages and most events are free.

Happening from 7 – 26 November at various locations across Canberra. Specific event details through the event website.

Boys Will Be Boys

Selling your soul never looked so stylish. Enter the world of currency trading, Dior suits and cocaine in Boys Will Be Boys. Astrid is a ruthless trader at the top of her game, raking it in with the best of them. To stay on top, she’s had to tough it out with the men that dominate her industry. She hasn’t broken the glass ceiling, she’s re-modelled the entire building.

When the young and ambitious Priya applies for a junior position on the trading floor, Astrid decides to play mentor. But, in the self-serving world of the trade floor, every favour has a price.

Award-winning playwright Melissa Bubnic won the STC’s Patrick White Award in 2010 and, since then, has been carving out a distinctive writing style that is smart, risqué and very funny. In Boys Will Be Boys  she has written a no-holds-barred, biting satire on what it takes to get ahead in the world of finance. With an all-woman cast, in-your-face dialogue, filthy jokes and heartbreaking songs, Boys Will Be Boys is a merciless and unapologetic look at power.

Warning: contains frequent strong language, partial nudity, and strong adult themes including sexual violence.
