Pranayama is the yogic practice of controlling or regulating the breath or lifeforce energy (prana) in order to increase lung capacity, vitality, and overall wellbeing. Yogic Breathing is a wonderful key to good health, longevity and spiritual advancement.  It is also a superb lead-in to meditation.
During this 2 and a half hour masterclass Ash will guide you through:
•       Gentle Asana (Hatha yoga and Yin Yoga) class to open up the energy channels that allow the prana (life force) to flow freely.
•       Introduce some basic pranayama techniques which will have an effect on energizing, relaxing and healing the body
•       Introduction to Mudra
•       Visualisation Techniques

This workshop will give you a good basic understanding of what pranayama is and how it works, enabling you to supercharge your whole body with regular practice!
Ash has been teaching yoga all over the world including 10 years in India where she was first introduced to pranayama.
Tickets are $75. On Sunday 17 April from 1.30pm – 4pm at Flourish Yoga,62/28 Mort St, Braddon.

The Urban Polaris rides again – all over Canberra. Forming part of the Canberra & Region Heritage Festival and Australian Heritage Week the event will take in heritage sites spread throughout Canberra.

Come and make tracks in the Capital as teams of 2 riders take to the cycle paths, forests and roads seeking out a choice of checkpoints in a seven-hour event that is open to serious riders, recreational riders and teams of all ages.

Urban Polaris is a navigating and cycling event where teams must find their way around control points. Each control point is given a point value that the competitors accumulate during the day. The team with the most points at the end of the seven hours is declared the winner. Successful teams will require good tactics to ensure they visit enough control points while allowing themselves time to return to base without incurring too many penalties.

Despite its competitive undertone the event suits everybody from those teams who will endeavour to reach every point to those who see it as an opportunity to have a day out riding with friends and taking in areas of Canberra they may not otherwise visit. There are categories and prizes.

On Saturday 16 April from 6am-5pm at Old Bus Depot Markets, Wentworth Avenue, Kingston. All tickets are $80. For more information visit:
