21 signs you’re a full-on foodie

Do you plan your weekend around what you’re going to eat? Rarely have a conversation where you don’t mention food? Find yourself daydreaming about donuts… well, all the time?
There’s a difference between enjoying a bite to eat and being a bona fide food freak. If you can relate to these 21 traits then congrats, you’re a full-on foodie (and we should do lunch).
1. You start to lose the plot if you haven’t eaten for a few hours.
2. Your favourite book is the Good Food Guide.
3. You would rather eat your own liver than a steak that’s cooked over medium rare.
4. You go to the supermarket to unwind.
5. You will knock people over to get to the buffet.
6. You can tell the difference between mayonnaise masquerading as hollandaise and actual hollandaise. And you’re having words if you get the former.
7. You go to the movies for the popcorn.
8. You understand the difference between the many kinds of cream and which one to use for what (ditto cheeses).
9. You regard people who aren’t food-obsessed with suspicion and disgust.
10. You choose your holiday destination based on the food (and research restaurants before you book accommodation).
11.You know the difference between a ‘dice’ and a ‘brunoise’. Duh.
12. Butter is the best thing that’s ever happened. If it’s down to margarine or dirt, you’re choosing dirt.
13. When you go to a wedding you rate it’s success based on the menu.
14. You own at least one good knife block and two kinds of knife sharpening tools.
15. Bad coffee gives you rage. As do overcooked eggs.
16. Your friends and family always buy you food-related presents for your birthday and Christmas.
17. People who constantly talk about dieting make you want to punch things.
18. You spend more money on food than you do on clothes, hair and make-up combined.
19. When you find out a new restaurant is opening, you set a reminder in your calendar so you can book a table the minute it opens.
20. You will line up for brunch – rain, hail or shine (and probably snow, if that happens).
21. You believe it’s critical to have food on hand at all times. And you are always prepared.
Congrats! You, my friend, are a full-on foodie.
