Cake + Australian Big Things = PANDSI Cake Off

Christine Spicer

The PANDSI Cake Off is an annual fundraiser for PANDSI, which supports over 300 local families a year experiencing perinatal depression and anxiety.

From telephone support to walking groups and playgroups to dad’s information sessions, PANDSI is there when families need it most.

Over 50 locals are rolling up their sleeves, measuring out their ingredients and getting their bake on – to help the PANDSI Cake Off #AussieBigThings raise funds for PANDSI (Post and Ante Natal Depression Support and Information).

From the Big Banana to the Big Pineapple, the Big Marino to the Big Boxing Crocodile – if you have a favourite Aussie Big Thing, chances are you’ll get the opportunity to buy it in cake form on Sunday 6 May at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. The cakes will be sold via live or silent auction, with every dollar going directly to PANDSI.

The ACT government has pledged to donation match up to $25,000 which is amazing, but we need help to reach that target!

The two main objectives of the PANDSI Cake Off are to raise funds and reduce the stigma of perinatal depression and anxiety.

How can you help?

  • Book your ticket here
  • Let us know you are coming (or interested) on our Facebook event
  • Let your colleagues, friends, neighbours, family, anyone, everyone know they should buy a ticket. Invites are downloadable from our webpage
  • Pool your resources together on the day and buy a cake! The cakes will start at $50. Dig deep, remember it’s for charity and our bakers have put many, many, many hours into their creations!
  • PANDSI Cake Off needs sponsors, if you know a business who is keen to support a local charity where the sponsorship money stays local, ask them to sponsor
  • If you can’t come, but really want to support PANDSI reach its fundraising target make a donation to our GoFundMe

But wait, there’s more! Tim Shaw, salesperson extraordinaire and 2CC breakfast presenter, will be live auctioning a select few of our Aussie Big Things cakes.

Keen to know which cakes? Head over to our Facebook and Instagram so you will be one of the first to hear which #AussieBigThings will be live auctioned on Sunday 6 May!

The PANDSI Cake Off Cake Crew, a team of five, are volunteering their time to create PANDSI Cake Off.

We are all fitting it around work, family and the general life curveballs which get lodged – particularly at busy times! We were so delighted to learn that we have been nominated for a Volunteer of the Year award, it’s the icing on the cake (couldn’t resist!).

You have the opportunity to vote in the ‘people’s choice category’ by clicking here and voting for ‘PANDSI ACT’ as well being nominated, it’s a small way we can continue to reduce the stigma of perinatal depression and anxiety by getting more people talking about it.
