When you feel like something other than last night’s dinner leftovers, or can’t muster the enthusiasm to cobble together a lunchbox – here are some of our picks that will keep your tummy and wallets happy.

KING O’MALLEYS (CITY)

King O’Malleys are ready to kick your week into gear with their delicious range of lunch specials. With choices spanning a range of burgers, pasta, chicken schnitzel, pizza, calamari, chicken wings and fish and chips, there are certainly options to satisfy even the most ravenous appetite. Pair with a cold pint, and never find yourself hungry, or out of pocket in Civic again.

THE DISTRICT (CRACE)

The District, with their warm, relaxed atmosphere, is the perfect place to pop in for lunch during the winter months. With an extensive list of Canberra district wines, pair your lunch with a drink and enjoy their amazing specials on offer. On Monday, share the love with some friends, and enjoy two pizzas for only $30.  Alternatively, enjoy a lunchtime classic and order the chicken breast schnitzel with crispy fries and salad. Including a complimentary tap beer or house wine, the $20 schnitty is a plate of lunchtime perfection.

NATURAL NINE’S KUNG FU NOODLE SOUP (CITY)

With a choice of beef, chicken or tofu soup, pop into Canberra’s premier pop-Chinese restaurant for quick, cheap and absolutely delicious soupy-goodness. Perfect to warm up as we enter the colder months!

HOPSCOTCH (BRADDON)

The funky bar on Lonsdale Street offer great lunch deals to anyone with an appetite looking for a relaxed setting.  From Monday to Thursday, $10 burgers are on offer, with chips or other sides for only a couple of dollars extra. Exclusive to Mondays, Hopscotch also offer $10 chicken schnitzel with fries, salad and your choice of mushroom or pepper gravy.

BREW BAR REED STREET (TUGGERANONG)

$15 will get you almost any type of lunch you fancy at this popular southside spot—from Spaghetti and Meatballs to a Club Sandwich. But we can’t go past a good beef burger—and this one is seriously filling with lettuce, tomato, onion, egg, cheese, beetroot or pineapple, served with fries and smokey BBQ sauce. All for $14.95!

SIREN BAR AND RESTAURANT (GUNGHALIN)

With specials spanning all throughout the working week, those living or working around Northside can always pop in for a good lunch deal. Choose from classic options such as schnitzel, a steak sandwich, and a range of burgers. Prices hover at the $20 mark and each meal comes paired with a complimentary schooner, glass of wine or soft drink.

LAZY SU’S EXPRESS LUNCH BOWLS (BRADDON)

The funky, Asian-fusion Lonsdale Street icon, Lazy Su, have recently re-calibrated their lunch menu. With a delicious lunch bowl range, there are flavours to suit everyone’s tastes. Our favourite addition is the $17 beef brisket Bibimbap. Packed full of goodness and nutrition, the bowl features beef brisket, rice, mixed vegetables, korean pickles, fried egg, kimchi mayo and ssämjang.

ZAAB STREET FOOD (BRADDON)

Next door to Lazy Su you’ll find Zaab Street Food, where you can get a flavour packed lunch box for a meagre $8.50. Think chicken tom yum fried rice, beef with chilli and lemon grass or roast vegetables in a yellow curry.

MARBLE AND GRAIN (BRADDON)

From 12-2pm, seven days a week, Marble and Grain offer a list of delicious $15 lunch options. Choose from chicken breast schnitzel, battered fish ‘n’ chips, the grilled lamb burger, smoked salmon bruschetta, and the healthy option of the roast pumpkin salad. Enjoy your lunch amongst their classy, wood-panelled interiors and you have a match made in heaven.

THE GLASS HOUSE CAFÉ (CITY)

A modest café with friendly staff, unpretentious food and a light-filled setting is what the Glass House Café has on offer.  Enjoy a relaxed meal, with their lunchtime specials rotating regularly, and most often priced between $10- $12. If you want to choose something other than the daily special, their whole lunch menu is fairly priced.

KUSINA (WESTON CREEK)

Kusina’s Filipino cuisine makes for a more-ish lunchtime. Their express lunch is available from 11am t0 2:30pm every Wednesday to Friday and is just $14! You could enjoy deliciousness like Camaron rebosado (battered Prawns with chilli and honey mayo). But hurry! Kusina closes its doors for good in June – we’re devo!
