Indulge Coffee & Chocolate Expo 2016: Choc full of beans

HerCanberra Team

If chocolate isn’t your favourite thing in the world, chances are coffee is. But why choose?

The most decadent foodie event of the year, Indulge Coffee & Chocolate Expo is back in 2016 and is set to be tastier than ever.

From cold brew to hot chocolate, there will be something for everyone this winter, no matter how sweet or bitter you like your flavours, but you have to get in quick.

“Last year we were completely overwhelmed by the crowd numbers as most people chose to purchase tickets at the door rather than pre-purchase on line,” explained Stephanie Hodge, Event Director of Indulge.

“Unfortunately this resulted in very long lines and some stalls selling out early. It was great to see so many people come out to enjoy the new event, we just weren’t prepared for the volume of people based on pre-sold ticket numbers.”

This year, Indulge ticket numbers will be limited and once sold out that is it so organisers are urging everyone to pre-purchase their tickets online.

“Not only is it cheaper but you can avoid long lines at the door and it also helps us prepare knowing how many people are coming to the event,” says Stephanie.

This year, Indulge has changed venues and will be held at The National Convention Centre. Stephanie explains they wanted to create an even more comfortable space for chocaholics and caffeinds.

“The Convention Centre is heated and has more facilities and room to better cater for large crowds, which should alleviate some of the issues we faced last year.”

All feedback received, both positive and negative, was taken on board and the organisers have been working hard to attract more exciting exhibitors and demonstrations for this year’s event.

SO WHAT’S NEW?

Some new features at Indulge 2016 include tastings by Bellerophon Cold Brew, a live chocolate sculpture demonstration by It’s a Sweet Life, working with ganache and mud cake demonstrations by Latorta, tasting sessions by Highgate Lane Coffee Roasters and Bean Culture, and the new SUKE SUKE cocktail bar serving up espresso- and chocolate-based cocktails and espresso stout for those who prefer something less sweet.

There will be an assortment of exquisite chocolates, cakes, scrolls, fudge, chocolate tea, and Morish Morsels will be back from Bathurst selling their gourmet pies and sausage rolls for lunch.
