Time to help one of our own

Amanda Whitley

Emma Grey has been a part of the HerCanberra community since its inception more than five years ago.

In that time, she has provided constant support and inspiration, her Monday Moment articles resonating with all of us.

She is one of the most generous and selfless women I’ve ever met — the first in line to offer help when it’s needed. Hell, she even managed to procure Harry Styles’ bandana for her daughter’s One Direction-loving, cancer stricken BFF.

Now Emma needs OUR help.

On Tuesday afternoon, Emma’s husband passed away suddenly, leaving her and her three children numb with grief. Emma describes the loss as ‘incomprehensible’ and while she and her family start to come to terms with their new normal, her friends are gearing up to support them through this hard time.

What can you do?

Sometimes it’s hard to know how to support someone who has lost their partner or family member, and often it’s the practical things that are most helpful.

FOOD

Not having to think about meals is a huge help.

One of Emma’s kind friends has created a Meal Roster online that you can sign up to a part of – just go to www.takethemameal.com.

Surname: Grey, User Password: 3109. If you have difficulty with the website, email us at [email protected] and we’ll help you out.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

And then there’s money. Emma’s husband, Jeff, was the main breadwinner of the family so there are some tough times ahead.

A bank account has been established for donations to assist Emma with expenses, including help in the costs of raising five-year-old Seb.

If you would like to contribute financially, you can deposit money into this bank account:

Account name: Paul Turner

BSB: 112-879

Account number: 469189197

OTHER STUFF

If you would like to help in other ways, please email Belinda at [email protected] and we will pass on your offer to Emma.

Now is the time to give back to a woman who has given so much to the HerCanberra community. Let’s pull together and help her during this devastating time.
