What it takes to Flourish

Amanda Whitley

Bronwen Stead is never still.

Over the five years I’ve known her she’s been a professional Samba dancer, bodybuilding champion, HerCanberra writer, cheerleader, women’s Gridiron player…phew!

She’s a woman who never hesitates to seize opportunities, and she says this attitude has taught her a basic simple truth.

“It is our mindset that will ultimately determine our success in any venture and our joy in the experience,” says Bronwen.

She’s not just speaking from personal experience. Bronwen is also a mental health professional, a qualified Social Worker with more than 10 years experience, having worked with abuse victims, with the military, in suicide prevention, and with female athletes and bodybuilders.

It’s the lessons she has learned over the past decade that have prompted her to develop Flourish—a 10-week program which brings together Bronwen’s experience in coaching, teaching, therapy and learning. She says that — just as people have personal trainers, nutritionists or business coaches—it’s time for people to embrace mental health coaches as valuable tools.

“So often we put off our wellbeing, our happiness and our mental health until things crack, we don’t seek support until we are in crisis or there is an issue. I want to change that.”

Bronwen says Flourish is about providing the tools women need to transform their mindset, learn to love themselves exactly as they are today and to develop the resilience to handle challenges as they arise, supported by a network of women.

“I have worked with countless women who put off their happiness and their self-value until something external changes. They say ‘When I lose 5kg/am in a relationship/get a promotion/start a family…I will be happy’.”

“The problem is, when (IF) that something else arises and we don’t experience an earth trembling shift, we just move on to the next ‘when’. And the cycle continues.”

If this sounds like you, then you might be keen to be part of Bronwen’s pilot program. This a testing phase and HerCanberra readers are eligible for 75% off the program price* in return for giving your frank and fearless feedback.

“To join the program, all you need is to be ready to make a change, to improve your happiness and self-value—and be ready to jump into an amazing community of like-minded individuals, all stepping up to take charge of their own wellbeing.”

“A happier, more fulfilled life could just be a click away!”

*The recommended retail price for the program is over $500, but for this pilot launch, Bronwen is offering Flourish for the discounted price of $125.
