7 of Canberra’s best massages

Samara Gentle

Everyone loves a good massage… right? It can be the difference between breathing easy or feeling uncomfortable as a result of pain or stress. Here’s where you can find the best rub in town, no matter where you live.

Foot & Thai {Northside}

When HerCanberra’s Michelle Brotohusodo posted about her visit to Foot and Thai, we received a tonne of feedback from their loyal clients. Michelle raves about it and says you can’t go wrong with a Deep Tissue, Remedial or Swedish massage. They also offer prenatal massages for soon-to-be Mums needing a little relaxation.

Where: Shop 6, 36 Weedon Close, Belconnen
When: 10am to 10pm, seven days
Price: One-hour $65-$80

Bai Bua Traditional Thai Massage {Northside}

Bai Bua is another Northside parlour with a vote of confidence from another HerCanberra team member – Martina Taliano who excites ‘they are fantastic’! It’s great for those located in the Gungahlin area not wanting to make a major trek to the city.

Where: 86 Phyllis Ashton Circuit, Gungahlin
When: 10am to 10pm, seven days
Price: One-hour traditional thai massage $65

Siam Senses Thai Massage {City}

For those working in the city, Siam Senses is a great stop over at lunch or after work for a little relaxation. The bonus being they offer a discount to public servants! I’ve been recommended by a close friend that the Milk Senses Massage is a must try and an amazing hydrating experience for your skin.

Where: Shop 5 Jolimont Centre, Corner Northbourne Ave & Rudd St, Canberra City
When: 9.30am to 9.30pm, seven days
Price: One-hour $89-$95

Thai Bliss Therapeutic Massage {City}

Why drive a second-hand Corolla when you can have an Italian Ferrari? At least that’s how HerCanberra’s Beatrice Smith describes the massages at Thai Bliss. Bea recommends either a 30-minute Foot Reflexology Massage or a 90-minute Stone Massage with hot aromatherapy essential oils.

Where: 14 Childers Street, Canberra City
When: 10am to 10pm, seven days
Price: From $49 to $219 (depending on length of treatment)

Body Temple {Inner South}

Suez Geelan has the hands of an angel, and while she gives a great Relaxation Massage, the Heartworks Lomi Lomi is our favourite. A massage for body AND mind, it features long fluid rhythmic strokes that lull you into a deep relaxed state. One of the benefits of the treatment is Lymphatic Drainage, so this massage helps to clears toxins and waste which cannot be removed by any other means from your tissues and cells. The massage is apparently designed for the emotions – so particularly good for people experiencing change or stress.

Where: Body Temple,6/16 Barker Street, Griffith Shops
When: Call Suez for operating hours.
How much: $105 for an hour, $135 for 90 minutes

Sawasdee Thai Massaage {Southside}

Sawasdee Thai Massage is my personal favourite! I love the atmosphere that’s created and if you listen carefully the classical music they play is actually covers of rock songs. The ladies there are fabulous and I can’t recommend the Thai Foot Reflexology and Aromatherapy Oil Massage enough.

Where: Shop 3 Tuggeranong Square, Anketell Street, Greenway
When: 10am to 10pm, seven days
Price: One-hour traditional Thai massage $75

Gaya Spa {Southside}

As a South-sider, I thought I’d try somewhere new on my side of town and opted for Gaya Spa in Phillip. I was pleasantly surprised with a beautiful atmosphere and lashed out at trying the Hot Stone Massage which I hands down will be having again!

Where: Unit 3, 46-48 Colbee Court, Phillip
When: Open seven days from 10am
Price: One-hour treatment from $80 to $100

    Are any of these places good for going as a group of four to get foot massages?

    • Michelle B

      Hi Georgia, I think Foot & Thai is probably good for that, they have a set up that’s probably suitable! Check out the photos on their website.
