A Swiish and stylish high tea

HerCanberra Team

Sydney style duo Sally Obermeder and Maha Koraiem are Canberra bound and keen to share a glass of bubbly and style tips with an exclusive audience—you!

The sisters have something of a love affair with Canberra and are heading here next month to host an intimate and inspirational HerCanberra high tea at the Burbury Terrace.

Over the past six years, the pair has forged the SWIISH health, lifestyle and fashion empire. They’ll share insights into their booming business, which clocks a social media following of more than 80K.

They’ll also share some of the highs and lows of running a demanding and 24/7 lifestyle brand and online shop while being sisters, best friends and business partners all at the same time.

Sally has enjoyed a successful television career and hosts Channel Seven’s The Daily Edition. In 2011, she was diagnosed with Stage Three breast cancer the day after she gave birth to her daughter Annabelle. Now in remission, Sally became a mother for a second time last year to baby Elyssa, assisted by a US-based surrogate.

The idea for the lifestyle brand was forged after Sally’s diagnosis when Maha realised life was too arbitrary not to take risks and left her corporate job to work with Sally full-time.

SWIISH has grown massively to a platform including the online store offering luxe clothes and accessories for less, the development of a signature Super Green Superfood Powder, three health-focussed cookbooks, and supermarket range of ready-to-blend frozen smoothies.

With Sally being the “ideas girl” and Maha the “practical one”, the pair have gone from strength to strength since deciding to preach their own version of health and style.

While it’s clear they share an entrepreneurial spirit, they’ve amassed a loyal following because of their genuine warmth and accessibility.

The sisters profess to have minds that never shut down and are constantly on the hunt for new inspiration and ideas for their online world. But they both love the interaction of real people and are relishing the opportunity to connect with an audience in Canberra – a city they know well.

The high tea will include a selection of French cakes and tarts, delicate savouries and traditional scones—accompanied by TWG fine teas, freshly-brewed coffee and Piper-Heidsieck Champagne—all served on the rooftop of the Burbury Hotel, where the Terrace overlooks the city.

Come and listen to their inspirational talk, bring a friend and try out the Instagram booth in luxury surrounds.

Compared by HerCanberra’s Emma Macdonald, the sisters will provide their trademark openness, business savvy, humour and style at an event not to be missed.
