Retail Review: Assemblage Project

Fiona Keary

Shopping outside your comfort zone is a great way of injecting life into your wardrobe. I often get clients looking for advice on great places to shop for their style, colours and shape, so my Retail Review series aims to introduce you to some of my favourite places to shop and also uncover some new gems to share with you. This is actually quite a dangerous assignment for me and it going to take every ounce of willpower not to purchase my favourite finds.

The key is to try new things; after all it is the art of mixing it up that ensures that we do not end up looking like we only shop at one store.

The store

Located in bustling Braddon, Assemblage Project is a retail collaboration between the designers of 4minutes33 (Gemma Jameson and Francesca Altenburg) and Karen Lee. The store is super slick and the integration of brands works superbly as they complement each other to create a cohesive look.

The brands

Initially Assemblage Project stocked exclusively 4minutes33, Karen Lee plus a range of handpicked jewellery but recently they have expanded their range to include:

  • Smitten dresses and cardigans (exclusive to Assemblage Project in Canberra)
  • Wendy Voon (exclusive to Assemblage Project in Canberra)
  • Stuart the Cat jewellery
  • Jodi Cunningham jewellery
  • inSync Design
  • Petra Meiren
  • School of Life (stationery)
  • Boheme

Gemma, Francesca and Karen have been mindful that any new brands align with their design philosophy and complement their collections. Other brands coming include IN.ZU, Siren, Luna Gallery knitwear and bags from Temono.

The vibe

Stunning pieces that are thoughtfully designed, exquisitely made, versatile and timeless. Assemblage Project is for women who understand their style and are not trend driven. Instead they want unique quality pieces that work from day to night and across seasons.

Style Personality

Perfect for Natural, Classic, Elegant, Creative and Dramatic style personalities.

Colour

Collections of mostly black, grey and white has evolved to include splashes of colour such as earthy reds, yellow, teal and purple. Cooler palettes will be drawn to the black and soft greys, whilst warmer palettes will love the reds.
