maybellineAs a makeup artist, I live in the world of cosmetics and sometimes it’s easy to forget that maybe other people aren’t as obsessed with the latest and greatest in all things beauty as I am. This lead me to think, what fabulous products have I been obsessing about that I can share with the HerCanberra readers? Well I would like to introduce you all to some of the most amazing, latest and greatest, must try, must have beauty products that have consumed my world.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow

This little miracle product looks unassuming, you may have even passed it by in the cosmetics aisle at Coles or Big W but hiding inside that little glass tub is the most amazing cream eyeshadow!

As it claims in the name, Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow is a 24 hour performer and it truly will last all day and night and as if that doesn’t sound amazing on its own, it also doubles as an eyeshadow primer. You simply swipe the colour over your lids with your finger or a concealer brush and its ready to go. One word of warning, less is best! The first time I used this product I over applied it and the result was creasing, so just a little goes a long way.

A lot of people have heard that if you spray hairspray on your face, your makeup will last longer but lacquering your face with hairspray is not very good for you. Model In A Bottle is the makeup world’s solution to the hairspray madness.

The makeup artist’s best friend, Model In A Bottle is a makeup fixer. It seals and fixes your makeup to your face which means it will last all day, not transfer, smudge or become patchy!

As seen on Oprah, Extra, and the Tyra Banks Show, it comes in both a normal ($29) and sensitive ($35) formulas. Only available from online stores, like Make Up and Glow in Australia.

Remember, as I say with all of these products, less is best and just a fine mist will do the job!

beauty-blenderBeauty Blender Sponge

Some of us apply our foundation with our fingers, some with a brush and some really savvy ladies are using the Beauty Blender Sponge. This is not your ordinary cosmetics sponge, the elliptical shape means you can apply your foundation to all of the contours of your face without any streaking or mess.

To use the Beauty Blender you dot your foundation onto your face and use the dampened sponge by bouncing it off the skin. This bouncing motion is what creates your flawless finish! It also works to apply concealer by using the pointed end to roll under your eyes and other delicate areas.

This little gem is available in many different colours and is only available online. The single sponge is $29.95.

lime-crimeLime Crime

This one is not so much a product, as an entire cosmetics range! And it’s called Lime Crime.

First of all, the packaging is divine. Pretty and girly (with a Unicorn!) it’s almost worth owning these products just for the way they look but really it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

The liquid eyeliners are a makeup artist favourite and eyeshadow primer makes your eyeshadows stronger, smoother, non-crease and waterproof. The lipsticks are creamy, long wearing and pigment packed and even the nail polishes are amazing. This brand can do no wrong in my eyes. Lime Crime is not available to purchase in stores but you can easily buy the range online from Make Up and Glow.

What’s your latest make up obsession?

Hi Lesley, just following up to let you know I followed your recommendation and bought Model In A Bottle. You are so right, it’s awesome. A weird feeling at first, spraying it on your face, but my makeup held all day, and well into the evening, with little need for a touch-up besides a bit of powder. Thanks for the great recommendation!

Hi, I sell Limecrime through my online store, which is based in Canberra. I was also thinking of opening a store this year in the city centre.

Hi Lesley, Thanks for this! I am off to the US next week – can I buy these products in-store over there? Any other must-buys I should grab? Amanda has been giving me some tips, I can’t wait to get shopping. Evie
