Best Brow Shapers in Canberra

Samara Gentle

Brows are the new thing, not thin brows like the 90s, at the moment it’s all about embracing a full bush! Brows are there to help shape your eyes and if shaped properly will help lift and open up your eyes making them appear bigger (your eyes, not your brows!)

There is a complete art to shaping brows, and after a few bad experiences with beauticians in Canberra, I thought it would be helpful to put together a list of the best places to go!

1. Brows By Mel {Local Business, Kingston Foreshore}

Melissa Bachi used to work from Mussen – the very fabulous clothing boutique on the edge of Braddon, but she’s now working from home at Kingston Foreshore, so she can balance work and motherhood.

Mel is a a brilliant brow artist – she understands the importance of brows, knows how to make the most of your natural shape, and gives some great tips on getting the most out of your brows. If you need a tint at your first appointment (Mel will recommend one if she thinks you could benefit), it’s free of charge… SMS her on 0433 722 659 to book an appointment.

2. Mystique Beauty {Local Business, Gungahlin}

I’m a south sider so personally I haven’t visited Mystique Beauty, but I have it on good authority from the HerCanberra ladies that Karla is a perfectionist and takes the time to really make your eyebrows perfect – what more could you want?

3. Brazilian Beauty {National Business, Woden}

For the south siders, Brazilian Beauty is a must! The ladies (and gents) are very well versed in brow shaping and maintenance.

Everyone who works there is super friendly and you’ll be in and out quickly!

4. Benefit {International Business, City}

If there’s a great local business that can do brows, I don’t often then like to recommend an international business – however – Benefit in Myer in the Canberra Centre have got the art of brows down pat! Not only do they offer brow shaping services, they also have the products to back it up.

The girls at the brow bar are perfectionists (not a bad thing when it comes to brows!) and won’t push products on you unless you ask! But make sure you do, the ‘Brows a go-go’ is fantastic to help you maintain your brows after having them shaped.

5. Be.You.Tiful Therapy {Local Business, Fyshwick}

The lovely Sommer is another local brow expert! Her beauty parlour has a charming vintage retro theme and they offer waxing and sugaring for brows!

As a bonus they also offer child-minding, just make sure you mention you need it when you book as they can only take so many kids at a time.

DIY Brows at Home

Don’t have the budget to get your eyebrows done? Not to fear! It’s something you can totally do in the comfort of your home as long as you have a pair of tweezers.

Here’s a great tutorial from So Make Me Up Before You Go Go to show you how to work out where your brow should start, arch should go and brow should end.

    Definitely recommend ‘Beauty Bar’ in Jamison Plaza – they’re great for eyebrow threading and the girls are lovely there to!

  • Thanks for the recommendations Samara! I always do my eyebrow at Benefit, because I don’t know where else to go. But I’ll definitely give Mussen and Mystique a try next time.

  • Bindii

    Word of warning – check out the brow artist’s own brows to guage their work…. avoid ANY who don’t have any/pencil thin – they will do yours like they prefer theirs!

  • Tamara

    I second Beauty Bar in Jamison. No one does brows like Mikaela!

  • Theresa

    I third beauty bar :)!

  • Charly Smith

    My beautiful, lovely favourite brow lady is Claire at Foundation Beauty Therapy, at the Lyneham shops. She is attentive, friendly, and fastidious.

  • Annie

    I swore by Benefit until I got 3 bad jobs in a row off different girls. Not so easy to see under Myers bright lights but next morning the many stray hairs and wax still stuck was a downer. Went back in and they couldn’t fix it – too busy. No offer of a credit ever. After that have used Benefit Brow Bars in Sydney and Melbourne no probs. Now do my own and people ask where do I go as they are so impressed. Dye, shape, snip and pencil or powder in over 50 yo brows now.

  • Lara

    I’m way too much of a control freak and way too obsessive about my brows to let anyone else near them. I highly recommend Lien Davies’ ebook, “How to create your perfect brow shape”. Totally worth downloading, my brows have never looked better. And it recommends starting your brows in line with the middle of your nostril, not in line with the corner of your eye, which actually makes a huge difference and much more natural looking brows.

    Donna at Beauty on London

    The very best eyebrows are to be had at Endota spa Canberra. Archana in particular as she uses threading to do them. Gentle, accurate, great for sensitive skin, she is just the best!

  • kelly

    Absolute Shape in Monash, she threads and is just amazing, I don’t think I could ever go back to waxing or plucking now

  • Sarah

    I’ll second Donna at Beauty on London. She does the best brows in Canberra, hands down, and even used to teach how to do them at CIT. She is the master they all learn from, however very few learn properly 🙁

  • Sarah

    Sorry, it’s now Beaute 2 Suit, formerly known as Beauty on London.

  • Eveline

    I highly recommend Jessica Peris! She does amazing eyebrows!
    Located in Gungahlin.

    Plus 1 for Absolute Shape in Monash. Aeshlyn is awesome. I love the threading too, I can’t go back to waxing 🙂

  • Alice

    I’ve been seeing Mary at Skin Deep in Reid for years and highly recommend, she’s great at waxing and shaping brows. A plus is that it’s really close to civic and has free parking. http://www.skindeep-canberra.com.au/

  • Tanya

    Lisa from ‘Naturally You’ at the Wanniassa shops is AMAZING!
    Won’t find anyone better!!

  • laura

    +3 for Donna at Beauty2suite

  • Mel

    I second Archana at Endota Canberra. She’s gentle with the threading, never does too much and does a lovely massage at the end. I’ve been seeing her for years. Great!

  • Mary

    It’s a bit of a trek but I’ve been seeing Meisha Wright in Sydney. She is quite well known in the industry as being super knowledgeable and has even tended to some celebrity eyebrows. She works out of Sydney once a month I think – I’m originally from Adelaide so I visit her whenever I go home as I’m in the process of growing my eyebrows out so they can be shaped properly.

  • Sam

    I went to ZAIJA to get my eyebrows done it was fantastic! Jorja was my therapists name and she was gorgeous and she listened to what I wanted. I would recommend anyone lady to ZAIJA.

  • Hayley

    I 100% disagree with the above comment. Zaija made me wait 40 minutes to get my eyebrows done then COMPLETELY ruined my eyebrows. i was so embarrassed for WEEKS until they grew back. the worst experience Ive EVER had.

  • Courtney b

    Is anyone here a natural blonde who has had their brows tinted?
    Mine are naturally white blonde so I need to find someone who won’t make them too dark.

    Referal from another blonde who has had them done would be great.
    Nothing against people with brown, black or any other Colour but in my experience you might get a great tinted of brown eye brows and they the do a Colour to dark on a blonde.

    • Amanda Whitley

      Hi Courtney, I’m not but Melissa Bachi (referenced in the article) is a natural blonde and I’ve seen the work she’s done on others. Maybe worth a call? Amanda
