Big news for Fashfest 2016

It’s out there. Sizzling news about Canberra’s biggest and most stylish annual fashion event.
FASHFEST 2016 is switching seasons and has new dates. This year’s event will take place from 29 September to 1 October when the weather is warmer (and guests can get glammed up without worrying about feeling chilly.)
Co-founder Clint Hutchinson says the move makes sense because it aligns FASHFEST with Australia’s overall fashion calendar and the timing of “sister” fashion events in Melbourne and Sydney.
In other news, FASHFEST will once again be held at the National Convention Centre and will increase the number of shows.
Although the event will be held for three nights in 2016, there will be two shows per night. Details are being worked out now, but one thing is for sure, says Clint: “The venue will once more be powered by sound and lighting that will transform the space into something magical.”
Designer applications are out now at fashfest.com.au. The deadline is 14 February so if you’re a designer, or know someone who is, now is the time to get those creative juices flowing on a stunning collection.
Once again, FASHFEST is throwing its weight behind local designers as well as designers from interstate and overseas, focusing on independent labels.
“Last year, we had 30 designers, including Melanie Childs from New Zealand, who was a big ticket item on the catwalk,” says co-founder Andrea Hutchinson.
“So we’re encouraging a wide range of designers to apply. FASHFEST is ‘young’ by Australian standards but the event continues to grow and mature. We’ve come a long way in just three years.”
