Op shopping just got even better

HerCanberra Team

National Op Shop Week 2017 is coming up on Sunday 27 August and to celebrate, Salvos Stores has launched a campaign to spread awareness of the lifecycle of a donated product, and the importance of up cycling to help others in need and the environment.

In Australia, 83% of women have clothes in their wardrobe that they have only worn once or twice, and 62% own clothes that have never been worn or still have tags on. Last year, Salvos Stores diverted 30,000 tonnes of donated items from landfill.

But wait, there’s more…

To kick off National Op Shop Week 2017, Salvos is offering 50% off everything (excluding new items) on Monday 28 August across all Salvos Stores in the ACT and will be running a free upcycling and styling workshop at the Salvos Store on Kenny Street in Phillip, Canberra by eco-stylist and Salvos ambassador Faye De Lanty (pictured) at 2pm, Friday 1 September.

The non-profit is also showcasing upcycling skills in week-long window displays, and holding an online competition via Facebook where the public can enter to become the best “style revivalist” in their state for prizes.
