Matt Blatt replicates their stores in Canberra

Calum Stenning

Australian furniture powerhouse Matt Blatt have opened their doors for the first time in Canberra.

Since its launch nearly 15 years ago, the company has forged its way in the industry producing replicas of prominent furniture designs, such as the iconic Eames Recliner, as well as designs from Hans Wegner, Erik Buch and Jasper Morrison amongst many others.

Canberra’s furniture industry grew substantially last year when IKEA opened its cavernous doors, and those with champagne tastes (but beer budgets) in home décor will be happy to see another wallet-friendly option as Matt Blatt joins the fray.

As well as reproductions of classic pieces, the store also stocks original designs from established and emerging designers from Australia in contemporary designer furniture, lighting and accessories.

You can find Matt Blatt at 76 Wollongong Street, Fyshwick.

Calum Stenning

Calum Stenning is Her Canberra’s newest and most male (read: only) intern. Three years spent living overseas has given him a renewed appreciation for Canberra life. Every day starts with coffee and the Sydney Morning Herald crossword at a favourite coffee haunt, as he is wary of the perils of dementia, and thinks crosswords are a viable safeguard. If he lives to a dementia-appropriate age (evidence says he won’t), he’ll let us know.
