Street Stylin’

Hayley O'Neill

This week we hit up the streets of Manuka to search through the funky cafes and gorgeous boutiques for the best street style. We found everything from printed pants to faux fur…

Sasha, Weston Creek. Wearing: ASOS printed pants, J.Crew top, Saba tailored blazer and Mimco shoes. Good tailoring is essential for work wear. I try to be conservative but try to be young as well. In Canberra, Saba is my go to shop. It’s where I can get a young look that is also professional for work.

Mary, Narrabundah. Wearing: Momento Dezigns. For winter I only ever wear black, always black with a red lip. Black is a good staple. I add colour as in grey or white, so aways playing with block colours never prints. This is my newest piece, it’s by Unreal Fur, it’s faux fur and I love it because it’s tonal. My style is a mix of bohemian, stylish, relaxed and quirky. I prefer to purchase the Italian labels like Patrizia Pepe, not to say that the Australian labels aren’t fantastic but I just tend to love their designs and different fabrics. It’s just the way they cut and mix different fabrics and prints together and make it work in quirky ways, which is my style.

Viktoria, Griffith. Wearing: Saba, Review and Marcs. I like nudes at the moment and especially loving the maroon/red wine colour. I love Saba for work wear. This cardigan, all the girls in the office have it. I got it last year, and after I got it another 5 girls purchased it from Saba.

Yanna, Forrest. Wearing: Christian Louboutin heels, Country Road printed skirt, The Horse watch and merino top from the Sydney Fashion Festival. I’m wearing a Nicholas coat (Not pictured) I bought it three seasons ago and it’s still bearing through Canberra winter. I’m pretty conservative but I like really girly shapes. I’ve got a big booty so I like to work with the booty when purchasing new pieces for my wardrobe.

Laurin, Kingston. Wearing: City Chic and ModCloth. I like vintage, especially 1950’s silhouettes. But I can’t really get away with the petticoat at work! I change the colours that I wear to suit my mood but I usually wear a lot of purple. I just got married and our theme was purple. In terms of clothes in Canberra, I only really buy from City Chic in the city. Otherwise I buy lots of items online especially from ModCloth. In terms of local businesses I go to Rockabilly Boutique in Fyshwick for my hair. She’s great, small business and she does a really good job.

Noemi, Braddon. Wearing: Pink Ink Boutique. I would describe my style as quirky, I like to play with lots of colour. I love shopping at Pink Ink Boutique because they’re beautiful, they know my name, my body and if I try something on which doesn’t look good Jane will tell me to take it off.
