Six tips for throwing the ultimate party (according to The Social Club)

Renee Douros

Pop the champagne, the festive season has officially arrived.

Ignore archaic cutlery etiquette and formal invitations in an ostentatious, cursive typeface; when it comes to throwing an awesome shindig, the following rules are the only ones The Social Club thinks you should follow.

Consider the dietary restrictions of your guests

We all know someone these days who is no-gluten, vegan, sugar-free, paleo…this list goes on! It’s always a good (and courteous) idea to ask about the dietary restrictions of your guests’ before you work with us to select your menu. If this task is far too great, we recommend supplying a couple of vegetarian dishes that everyone will be happy with.

Don’t be afraid to invite the entire village!

Be brave with your guest list. The Social Club has enough room to accommodate 250 revellers (standing) so, the more the merrier! Mix generations, professions and friendship groups. View your role to not only be the centre-of-attention/party-thrower/host of the event but head introducer to some potential new friendships or even romances!

Don’t get hung up on the traditional party formula

We see too many clients getting hung up on trying to do things the traditional way and sadly, they forget the reason they’ve booked The Social Club in the first place, which is to have an enjoyable experience! Who says you have to have a formal, three course sit-down dinner at your wedding? Why not take advantage of our wood-fire pizza oven and have us whip up your favourite pizza’s instead to serve to guests? Dinner then dancing? We say flip it on its head and get guests on the dancefloor before the food service even begins…at least they’ll be able to work up an appetite!

Music is a must-have

Music is the backbeat to your party and we’ve got a fully-integrated, 16 speaker sound system with seamless Bluetooth connectivity to keep the tunes pumping into the early hours. If hiring a DJ is set to blow your budget out of the ballpark, why not ask your friends to each create a playlist of their favourite songs that can be rotated throughout the duration of the party.

Have fun at the bar

A brilliant way to add some extra fun to your event (and save costs) is to get creative with your bar set-up. We love the idea of using our 5-metre-long marble bench to build self-serve stations; a wine bar, vodka bar or espresso martini bar would be a huge hit with guests. This approach also saves costs when it comes to hiring bartenders. If your budget doesn’t reach that far, we suggest offering one red, one white and a novelty cocktail.

Set the scene with lighting

Lighting is key to creating an appropriate feel for your event. The Social Club boasts a multitude of lighting options to suit any kind of booking; from overhead lighting on dimmers, to statement pendant lights and festoon string lighting. We also welcome candles (of which we have hundreds at our disposal) to add some extra moodiness to your party.
