What’s all the fuss about Coconut Oil?

Samara Gentle

Coconut oil is the new craze which has been invading our kitchens.

Guess what!? It also has a ridiculous amount of benefits for your beauty regime!

Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, it’s an amazing moisturiser, it’s one of the better products to penetrate hair and let’s face it – it smells freaking amazing.

Here are my top 5 ways to use coconut oil:

1. Remove your makeup

Put a small amount of coconut oil onto a cotton ball and gently sweep over your face and your eyes. The oil does an excellent job breaking down inky eye makeup and helps leave your skin hydrated.

Once you’ve removed all your makeup wash your face as normal.

2. Shave your legs

I’m not kidding! If you have super sensitive legs and don’t like all the harshness of chemicals found in shaving cream, it’s time to invest in coconut oil.

Once you’ve slathered a generous amount on, shave as normal and rinse. Not only does the coconut oil provide a slick surface to shave, but it also helps hydrate your legs, making them silky smooth (but not greasy!)

3. Condition your hair

If you have some time to kill on a Sunday and your hair is in desperate need of hydrating, lather it in coconut oil and leave on for 15 minutes. Then simply rinse and shampoo as per normal!

4. Control frizz

You can also use coconut oil to help control frizzy hair! It’s best to start with a tiny amount and then build depending on the control required.

Apply a small amount to the ends of your hair, try to avoid the roots as if you use too much it can start to look oily.

5. Treat cuticles

If your nail beds have been looking a bit dry and ragged, just dab some coconut oil on them. Do this before bed and put on gloves – you’ll wake up to soft, smooth digits.
