Real wedding: Adam and Emily

HerCanberra Team
Lake Crackenback provided the scenic backdrop for Adam and Emily’s relaxed, rustic wedding; with the couple able to enjoy a weekend getaway with family and friends in a pristine location. Emily took us through the day.

Getting ready

I got ready with my four bridesmaids in one of the big chalets at Lake Crackenback. We had to get up super early for hair and makeup and to pass time we jumped on the bed, drank champagne and took selfies!

Adam got ready in another chalet with his four groomsmen. Apparently, they hit up the Jindabyne Pub for some beers to calm the nerves…

The dress

My dress was a Lisa Gowing number — ivory, lace, low back and fitted. I did try to look around in Canberra but unfortunately could not find anything I loved. As soon as I tried on this ‘Cecile’ Lisa Gowing dress (the last one of this kind, in my size), I knew it was ‘the one’.

The ceremony

On the morning of the wedding it was raining and only about seven degrees (freezing for summer), so I was feeling extra anxious. At about midday, a few hours before the ceremony the clouds cleared and the sun came out…. and it ended up being a perfect day.

The atmosphere was incredible when we walked in the ceremony,  cheering, laughing, and a lot of dancing! It was an amazing vibe. We just wish we could do it all over again!

The reception

Adam and I had visited Lake Crackenback in 2014 and fell in love with the venue. When we were choosing a venue for our wedding, we both wanted something by the water and a destination wedding, but close to Tumut (where Adam is from) and Canberra. Lake Crackenback Resort has everything in one location including enough accommodation for all our guests. It’s truly a stunning location which seemed fitting for our ‘rustic’ theme.
