Real weddings: Emma and Josh
Posted on
Emma and Josh’s wedding at Pialligo Estate featured lush florals and styling amidst the vineyards. Here, the lovely bride takes us through the day…
Getting ready
We both got ready at our family homes – Josh’s in Torrens, mine in Duffy.
We were both surrounded by our families and bridal party on the day, and the nerves hadn’t sunk in for us at that point!
The dress
When I first went to look at dresses, I tried about eight on – all of which I loved but I didn’t feel like a bride in, so my mum picked a dress out for me.
It was the last one I tried on and it fitted perfectly, I really felt like a bride and cried my eyes out – I just knew it was the perfect dress for me, it shaped my body and I felt sexy and comfortable.
The ceremony
We had the ceremony at St Peter’s Church, which I have been attending since I was a kid. It has a great community feel and it felt right getting married there.
The ceremony was special for us – we had our tears and laughs. At times it felt like we were the only people in that church while we were saying our vows together, but being surrounded by our close friends and families was our favourite part.
The reception
We fell in love with Pialligo Estate for its country feel – it felt peaceful and almost like you weren’t really in Canberra. We were surrounded by rows of vineyards, olive groves and open spaces to roam around, and enjoyed every minute of it!
I did the styling and Lilygrace Flowers helped me – she’s a friend of mine, and I can see her passion in what she does.
For the table decorations we had a navy blue table runner, Japanese honeysuckle candle, in a silver pressed metal tin, provided by indigo lights – she made all 20 for me, and there was none left by the end of the night!
