Woodbrook: Bringing families together

Annie Caughey

Woodbrook is the ultimate tool to bring two families together at your wedding because really, what brings people together better than a love of food?

Stefanie and Travis Cutler are the couple behind Woodbrook, a wholesome new company offering a distinctive style of catering for your wedding or event.

Woodbrook approaches your event with a different sense of purpose. They don’t simply send you a menu, they in fact, prefer to discuss the details of your wedding or event in order to tailor the food directly to your tastes, location and season. This has seen them break away from the standard roving canapes or alternate plate drops. Grazing tables lavished with easy to grab handmade canapés make sure that your guests are both free to mingle and safe from starvation while sharing mains amongst strangers, creates new friends.

“A wedding is a fusion of families, the bride and groom want everything to run flawlessly and they want everyone to get along,” Stefanie explains. “Sharing food provides a vessel for this to happen, it brings the whole night together.”

At Woodbrook not only are they flexible with personalised catering options, but the addition of a grazing table or shared meals adds a unique element for your reception that ultimately promotes the whole theme of a wedding – “bringing people together”. And the best part? No one is missed and people can graze as they please.

The food provided is the finest of fresh and local produce all shaped, cut and turned with their own hands. The food selection is heavily influenced by what is seasonal and vibrant at the market on that given week. The produce is handpicked by Travis the chef himself, including anything from delicate artisan meats, cheeses to seasonal fruit and vegetables.

The couple fell into the catering business back in November 2015 when some of their friends needed some help cooking for an event. Originally Travis worked as a historian for over 10 years. However, it was this event along with both their many years of hospitality experience that inspired them to take the plunge and create something that was uniquely “Trav and Stef”. So, tossing the history books aside, Travis picked up a pair of tongs and started his chef’s apprenticeship at the hatted Aubergine.

Two years later, they haven’t looked back.

You’ll be able to meet the couple and find out more about Woodbrook at their stall at HerCanberra’s UNVEILED The Event on Saturday 3 June at the National Portrait Gallery.

They’ll be available to chat all things food, grazing and sharing so don’t hesitate to drop past their stall and say hello!
