Canberra Girl’s Grammar Night Markets

This Friday evening, Canberra Girls Grammar School will be transformed into a sparkling outdoor bazaar with the School’s first ever Night Markets kicking off a full weekend of 90th anniversary celebrations.

Fairy lights will illuminate the Senior School quad while exotic fragrances fill air. The event, which showcases handmade wares from the CGGS community, will offer something for the whole family including entertainment from Warehouse Circus, gift stalls, food vans and mulled wine.

Bring your appetite! Smokey G’s Joint will be cooking barbeque beef brisket, pulled pork and Texas chilli all day, ready just in time for dinner. Other hearty autumn fare on offer will include wood fired pizza, sausage sizzle, kranskys & beer, soup and curries. The Fudge People, homemade treats and coffee vans will also be on hand to provide life’s necessities!

On your way in (or out) be sure to stop by The Floral Society ‘Flower Truck’ to pick up seasonal blooms.

Looking for gifts or items to stock your pantry? The CGGS Night Markets will feature local artisans and providores – from jewellery, homewares and clothing to wines from Lark Hill, honey from nearby Collector and olive products from Fedra Olive Grove.

The CGGS P&F Association Night Markets will be held at the Senior School Quad on Friday, 20 May 2016 from 5.30pm. Enter the school via Melbourne Avenue. Ample parking on surrounding streets.

90th Anniversary celebrations will continue over the entire weekend. Saturday is dedicated to alumni with reunions taking place at the School and the launch of the Heritage Walk – an interactive walking tour of the School’s architectural history. The day will culminate with an alumni cocktail party at the National Gallery of Australia. On Sunday, the CGGS community are invited to the Chapel of the Annunciation for the 90th Anniversary Chapel Service followed by morning tea and the Heritage Walk.

The celebrations conclude on Monday as all current students and staff attend special assemblies to mark 90 years since the founding of Canberra Girls Grammar School.
