David Hockney: prints party

Dive headfirst into a celebration of colour and printmaking at the NGA’s David Hockney: prints Party this Friday 2 February!

The National Gallery of Australia’s recently opened exhibition, David Hockney: prints draws from our extraordinary collection of David Hockney’s works on paper from 1961 to now. This Friday night, cool off amongst David Hockney: prints with colourful characters, delicious food and live entertainment. Wear your loudest prints, grab a summer punch on arrival, and embrace the musical stylings of bright and bawdy drag superstar Venus Mantrap and local producer Nick Delatovic.

Enjoy a special exhibition introduction by Dr Jane Kinsman, Senior Curator and Head of International Art, before exploring the art of printmaking with Canberra’s Megalo Print Studio and joining a conversation led by artists and lecturers from the ANU School of Art and Design’s Printmedia and Drawing Workshop. Soak up the pool party vibes as you get hands on with iPad drawing, one of Hockney’s favourite creative practices.

Venus Mantrap (aka Samuel Townsend) will be available for a photo opportunity and interview at the NGA on Tuesday 30 January at 1.30pm. Please let me know if HerCanberra would like to attend this media opportunity, and if you will be bringing a photographer.

Happening Friday 2 February from 6 – 8 pm at the National Gallery of Australia.

Cost: $35, $30 concession/student, $25 NGA and Megalo Print Studio members. Purchase tickets here
