Late Night Summer Openings at the NPG

The Portrait Gallery will keep its doors open until 8.00pm on Fridays 13, 20, 27 January and 3, 10, 24 February. The gallery will have a variety of fascinating (and free!) performances throughout the summer, and don’t forget to catch their Popular Pet Show highlights tour at 7.00pm (exhibition ticket required).

 

January 13: Superstition
DJ Mr Michael plays a selection of music, with accompanying caricatures drawn by Andrew Hore.

 

January 20: Creatures of the night

Tammy Paks will lead us through an array of visual delights with burlesque and fire twirling performances. Live music will be provided by the Josh Knoop Trio, with Miss Kitka’s models dressed as creatures we might bump into in the night.

 

January 27: ‘Climbing equipment 1–3’
View local artist Jacqueline Bradley’s installation and listen to live music performed by members of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra.

 

February 3: ‘Climbing equipment 1–3’
View local artist Jacqueline Bradley’s installation and listen to live music performed by the John Mackey Trio.

 

February 10: Country affair
Get your feet tapping and fingers clicking along to lively, fun gypsy-swing-style tunes provided by local band Doctor Stovepipe.

 

February 24: Gone to the dogs
Ken Done relates many a tall ‘tail’ about his furry companions, accompanied by music performed by the John Mackey Trio.
