Spice up your life: World Curry Festival

Warm up this winter with a delicious curry from the very first World Curry Festival in the City.

This two-day event held across Saturday 18 July from 11am to 9pm and Sunday 19 July from 11am to 6pm, will bring colour and flavour into the heart of Canberra City. Visitors can expect to be wowed by live cooking demonstrations, tantalise their taste buds with street food, pick up some goodies at the market stalls, and delight in a variety of live entertainment including Bollywood dancing.

The live cooking demonstrations will be a particular highlight with approximately 10 ‘master class’ style demonstrations held across the weekend. At each demonstration there will be free tasting plates and take home recipes to try your hand at becoming a curry master chef.

There is an exciting line-up of participants including Thirst, Garnish of India, Copper Chimney, the Hungry Buddha and the adventurous Mr Frugii. A licensed bar will also be on site to quench your thirst with a range of specialty beverages from around the globe.

Visitors can experience a range of authentic and inventive flavours from India, Nepal, Egypt and beyond throughout the weekend festival. The levels of spice ranges from mild, medium to hot and are guaranteed to satisfy the most sensitive and adventurous of palates!

Located next to the popular Skate in the City ice skating rink in Garema Place, there will be something for the whole family. It’s the perfect opportunity to combine the love of spice and ice!

The World Curry Festival celebrates the diversity of our city centre by bringing together different cultures with a love of curry at your convenience.
