The ACT Witness Tree Project

The Gallery of Australian Design (GAD) will be launching an exhibition exploring a key aspect of Canberra’s local history and heritage. Presented by the ANU School of Art Furniture Workshop, the ACT ‘Witness Tree Project’ features objects created from the timber of city street trees who have come to the end of their useful life.

The ACT Witness Tree Project saw select trees distributed to a handful of artists, craftspeople and furniture makers to be transformed into new objects, reflecting on what the trees may have seen or heard in their lifespans.

Launches 8 April and runs until 30 April 2016 at Gallery of Australian Design, 47 Jardine Street, Kingston. Entry is FREE. See the website for more information: soa.anu.edu.au/http%3A/%252Fsoa.anu.edu.au/witness-tree
