More than a facial, less than a face lift: Your five-minute guide to aesthetic treatments in Canberra

Posted on

When it comes to aesthetic and cosmeceutical treatments in 2023, the landscape is as diverse as Canberra’s population.

And while we will never expect or assume that these are for everyone or that anyone needs to undergo these treatments, we will also never judge someone for wanting to learn about treatments that might go a step beyond a luxurious facial.

Please note: This is by no means an exhaustive guide!

Do your own research and when it comes to cosmeceutical procedures, always seek the advice of your GP or another medical professional

Offering anti-wrinkle injectables that smooth lines and dermal filler that sculpts and add volume, Estetique’s owner, Registered Nurse Alysse Myers, is focused on creating hyper-natural treatments that enhance client’s features.

“Getting injectables for the first time can be daunting. I offer free consultations to potential clients ensuring they are well informed about what to expect from each procedure,” explains Alysse.

“I have found this to be a successful way of easing clients’ fears. From the moment the client walks through the doors I aim to create a comfortable and calming environment. We then discuss their concerns and what it will take to achieve their goals.”

“A full consultation is provided before every procedure as we discuss risks and what to expect. Once the client is satisfied with the treatment plan, relevant medical history is taken, and a doctor is called via video chat to deem the treatment suitable. Then we are ready to begin!”

I believe my honesty and transparency are the main reasons why I have built such a strong rapport with my clients in a short amount of time. Delivering undetectable results and making people feel confident will always be my mission.”

A post shared by The CAPS Clinic (@capsclinic)

Having recently celebrated 25 years as Canberra’s premier plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic clinic, the CAPS Clinic team are experts in recommending the right treatment to suit both patients’ skin concerns and preference for the type of treatment they’d feel most comfortable with. Their MyGenesis Clinic has a truly jaw-dropping (and jaw-shaping) range of treatments.

What we had: We tried one session of EMFACE (August, 2023). Read all about it here.

What is it: CAPS Clinic Founder and renowned Specialist Plastic Surgeon Dr Alastair Taylor often recommends EMFACE to those who are seeking whole-face rejuvenation but don’t suit or want a surgical approach. It’s also a great solution for those looking for a non-invasive and non-injectable option.

As some of Canberra’s premiere skin and aesthetic clinics, Artisan Clinics have a sterling reputation for offering premium services, and it’s not hard to see why.

Not only do they have three clinics in Canberra alone, but they offer a staggering array of services for both face and body, from relaxing and refreshing facials to laser treatments, dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle injections. | @artisanclinics

Offering a boutique selection of hair and skin treatments, Hair & Skin Science aims to harness cutting-edge research to create powerful cosmeceutical treatments targeting challenges like dull skin, pigmentation and hair loss.

What we had: Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) skin treatment or ‘vampire facial’ (in June 2023). Read more here.

What is it: PRP requires a Registered Nurse to safely take a small vial of blood from your arm (just like a small blood test) and spin it in a centrifuge. Your face is then numbed and micro-needled before the plasma that has been separated from your blood is applied like a treatment across your face. The treatment requires some downtime. | @hairskinscience

Feel immediately at home, seen and cared for at The R Clinic‘s sun-soaked Belconnen Clinic. Offering a range of boutique skin and hair services, Dr Wen and his team are friendly, knowledgable and put client comfort above all else.

What we had: A skin analysis and bespoke serum created from their exclusive Universkin range (in July 2023). Watch it here.

What it is: A more-than-skin-deep (sorry) analysis of your skin, including measuring pigmentation, sun damage, redness and rosacea and wrinkles. A fascinating deep dive that was so education, the analysis allowed The R Clinic’s Dr Wen to mix Managing Editor Bea a bespoke serum to target redness and reduce fine lines. |

With warm and inviting pink interiors mixed with finishes of marble and gold, you’d expect nothing less than a modern luxury treatment at Gunaghlin’s Renew Skin, but it goes far beyond that, branching into a truly holistic fusion of what’s best for the skin, the body, and the soul.

What we got: The iS Clinical Fire & Ice Facial (in July 2022). Watch it here.
