Floorball

Floorball is a fun, fast-paced, non-contact indoor sport that mostly resembles hockey, and adds elements of soccer and basketball.
Floorball is played on an indoor rink measuring 40m x 20m, surrounded by 50cm high boards. Two teams, each consisting of five field players and one goalkeeper, compete over three twenty-minute periods using light, carbon fibre sticks and a lightweight, plastic ‘wiffle’ ball.
Players on each team work together and combine skill and strategy to move the ball up the court in order to score on the other team.
The speed of floorball makes for an excellent work-out; due to the fast-paced nature of the sport, teams may substitute players any time in the game, usually after a couple of minutes.
Floorball is easy to play and it is a safe sport. Controlled shoulder-to-shoulder contact is allowed, but stick and body checking like in ice hockey are prohibited.
Floorball requires very little equipment, consisting of a stick, shorts, t-shirt, socks, and indoor sport shoes.
Players may choose to wear other protective items such as shin or knee guards or eye protectors, although most players don’t.
