Love yourself: it’s such a simple yet revolutionary concept.

After all, we love our friends, family, and partners unconditionally, and yet appreciating oneself sometimes feels like a chore. But we’re here to help change that.

In honour of Valentine’s Day (AKA the most romantic day of the year), we’re challenging you to love yourself first.

From eating food you love to enjoying the little things, here is a five-day guide of self-love practices to inspire you to do whatever makes you feel good.

Monday: Nourish yourself

Forget feasting your eyes, nourishing your body is the best way to show it some love. Treat yourself to a decadent breakfast like this sugar-free, vegan, and gluten-free vanilla bean and coconut breakfast recipe. Topped with poached pears and drizzled with red wine syrup, it’s a healthy treat that tastes just as good as dessert.

With that said, if you’re craving a sweet treat, Anisa Sabet’s recipe for creamy honeycomb ice cream topped with fresh coffee is unbelievably delicious. Of course, if you’re too lazy to find your apron, you can always go pick up ice cream from Canberra’s coolest ice cream precinct (pun intended).

However, if you’d prefer a savoury option, this recipe from Emma Macdonald combines two of the best things in the world: potato and brie. You’re welcome.

Whatever you choose, be sure to listen to your body and what it wants.

Tuesday: Feel beautiful inside and out 

It’s a well-known fact that self-care helps to reduce anxiety and stress, giving your mind a chance to rejuvenate and rest. While yoga or meditation is always a good idea, giving your skin, hair and nails some love is a great way to reignite a sense of pleasure in your body.

Wednesday: Treat yourself to a good cup of coffee

Maybe it’s that first sip or maybe it’s the fact that scheduling time to do something just for yourself is the perfect way to help you be more present and aware of your needs. Thursday: Change up your workout routine

Engaging in physical exercise you enjoy is a great way to fall in love with yourself. Not only does it improve your mood and boost your confidence, but it also makes your body feel darn good.
