A taste of Cuba comes to Canberra

HerCanberra Team

If your image of Cuba is driven by a mojito and a cigar, colonial architecture and vintage cars, get excited.

Creative Director of Sunwaves Indoor Street Fest Julian Bahamon is bringing Caribbean heat to town on Saturday 22 April in an event set to showcase local food and drink (all with a Cuban twist!).

“We’ll be asking each of the food trucks to prepare a Cuban-inspired dish, there’ll be a Cuban-inspired Sand Bar serving mojitos, a Beer Bar and Canberra By The Glass will be serving up local wines.”

Cuba is a vibrant country heaving with performing arts, music and dance expressing culture. Julian wants local audiences to experience a taste of the country without leaving home.

“I just came back from Cuba six months ago and wanted to bring the food, music, drinks and culture to Canberra,” he says.

Kingston’s Former Transport Depot will be filled with funk, electro, Caribbean beats, and R&B rhythms, with entertainment including percussion, bongo shows, a Latin Jazz band, monodramas, dancers and magicians.

Just the thing to warm up a cool Canberra autumn.
