Five great Friday night drinks
Posted on
It’s Friday! A chance to celebrate the week that was (or the start of two workfree days.)
And what better way to mark the occasion than by raising a glass at Friday night drinks!
It’s nice to go to your favourite bar (check out our recommendations for Canberra’s best cocktail bars) but sometimes it’s nice to go somewhere that there’s a bit of a TGIF ‘special occasion’ vibe going on. Here are five of our favourite Friday night drinks…
It’s pronounced MowETT dahlink
The Hyatt Hotel Canberra. Every Friday in the Garden from 5pm, you can relax in the gorgeous gardens of tSip Moët & Chandon by the glass, a refreshing ale or maybe a cocktail or two, and start the weekend by unwinding in style.
A night at the museum…
Celebrate the end of the working week and farewell November in style at the National Museum of Australia‘s Movem-Bar. Things could get very hairy…
They’ll be putting on an all-American style BBQ with a legendary sauce station. Check out the mo growing efforts of the Museum’s gents while sipping on American craft beers and watching the sun go down over the lake. From 5 to 9pm tonight. Strictly 18+.
In da House
The Institution is back! Old Parliament House has rebooted its legendary Friday night drinks. DJ Ashley Feraude will kick your weekend off in style with relaxed beats, while you enjoy hotdogs, tofu burgers and bar snacks…or just sip the cocktails and wines on offer.
They’re happening from 4:30pm – 9.30pm every Friday until Christmas in the House of Representatives Courtyard. Entry from Queen Victoria Terrace Lane.
AirWaves
Until Friday 13 December, Canberra Airport will be hosting AirWaves; a six-week series of live music showcasing local talent alongside locally sourced food, wine and beer. Held every Friday from 4-7pm in the departures lounge at the airport terminal, next to Limestone Cafe and Bar.
Week three includes local talent Liam Budge Duo and $5 selected beer and wine from Limestone from 4:30pm – 5:30pm. Talent for the coming weeks include Davesway, Dollface and Toggle.

Want some culture with your champers?
It only happens once a year, but Undercurrent Design Market is a must-do on the Canberra markets calendar, and this year will showcase an expanded array of original, fresh and contemporary gifts and objects – from ceramics to jewellery, textiles to design co-ops.
Tonight’s market features live music (and drinks!)from 5pm to help lift your spirits, and festivities continue the next day, offering a chilled shopping experience from 10am to 4pm. It’s all on at the National Portrait Gallery.
Happy Friday everyone!
