We May Never Meet Again: The Music of Amy Winehouse

thumb_131060_atdw_gallery

We May Never Meet Again pays tribute to Amy Winehouse’s lifelong love of jazz through a suite of twisted and re-imagined arrangements, transporting her music from the radio to the smoky clubs where her jazz idols used to play.

Hear the soul-drenched voice of Elly Poletti bring a new life to songs like “Back to Black”, “Tears Dry On Their Own”, and “In My Bed”. Six horns share the stage with Elly, weaving a backdrop of jazz harmonies and soul hits, comments and counter-melodies.

Friday 12 February at 8pm. Box office opens 1.5hrs prior to show. Book tickets here: au.patronbase.com/_StreetTheatre/Productions

Royal Australian Mint Open Day

royal mint open day

In 1966 Australians made change … in more ways than one. Fifty years on the Royal Australian Mint (the Mint) is inviting the general public to celebrate decimal currency’s golden anniversary with an Open Day on February 13. There is so much to do:

Factory Walkthrough

This Open Day will have you take a journey through time, seeing the way that our coins have changed and adapted to our way of life. The walkthrough is a rare opportunity to stroll on the factory floor and see the presses which make the coins which pass through your hands every day.

Pop-Up Coin Design Studio

For the first time, the general public will be able to see the talented Royal Australian Mint Coin Designers in action in a once-off pop-up coin design studio! Accessible only as part of the factory walkthrough, the process of coin design will be revealed to the public like never before.

Master Class

A limited number of exclusive master classes with the Mint’s coin designers and product development team are also available, providing the amazing opportunity for the public to learn directly from the Mint’s talented coin designers. Here the public will be brought up- close with their methods and means in design and will get to personalise a special design and join in a plaster pour.

Coin Dealer Showcase

See pre-decimal coins up close with our Coin Dealer Showcase, seeing the complete story of Australian currency told over the past 100 years. The Coin Dealers present will also have a selection of previous year’s collectible coins and they can even give valuations so bring along our own coins or information about them and see what treasure you may have hiding amongst your collection.

There will be lots of other activities with musical performances, the Gecko Gang and photo opportunities with Mr Minty, Kelly the Kangaroo and Charlie the Koala, which will provide something for all ages.
