That’s why we’ve introduced our Weekend Edit… Here are 10 things you shouldn’t miss! Also make sure to tune in to Mix 106.3 at 8:20am this Saturday morning to hear HerCanberra’s founder Amanda Whitley chatting with Cam about this weekend’s top picks!

Noted is Canberra’s independent writers’ festival and one of the newest additions to Canberra’s cultural calendar – a celebration of reading, writing and all things literary that is not to be missed.

Noted will stage more than sixty free panels, AMAs, workshops and children’s events in city cafés, galleries, pubs and arts centres. Highlights include a literary art exhibition and festival opening at ANU Foyer Gallery, a conversation with partner The Stella Prize, a four-venue literary bar hop, and what may well be Canberra’s largest ever Independent Publishing Fair, with events for adults and children throughout.

Happening across a variety of locations in Canberra from Tuesday 15 March onwards. See their website for the full program, a complete list of artists, and specific information on venues and event times

Art, Not Apart is a little festival for the arts. Canberra arts. No-one’s apart.

Exhibitions, performance art, four music stages, installations, strange interventions, street food, suitcase market, cafes and a dance party. Cross-disciplinary works about today are a focus, some have been commissioned, and are carefully placed across the beautiful NewActon Precinct, Westside (shipping container village) and an Art Walk in-between. This isn’t just about art, but uses art as a metaphor. Art, Not Apart actively removes boundaries with amazing artists. Giving light to the lesser heard, lesser seen. Depixelate. Experience the patterns of now.

Happening this Saturday 19 March from 1pm until 7pm across a variety of locations in Acton, New Acton and West Basin. See the website for more details

Continuing along Muse’s culinary journey during Good Food Month, and tying in with their love of books (and food), Muse are hosting hosting a distinguished panel of speakers whose words are as delicious as their subject.

The three panelists Bryan Martin, Marion Halligan and Michelle Brotohusodo have expertise across a variety of platforms in print, critical writing and the modern food blogger. Moderated by the eloquent Fergus McGhie, writer and Mount Majura Vineyard man about town, this promises to be an interestingly delicious and fun event.

Seven years ago Bryan Martin was asked to write a small weekly column for The Canberra Times about food, with an emphasis on men doing the cooking – even without involving a barbeque! Somewhere along the way this 300 word contribution evolved into a weekly full page exposition of paddock to plate eating, knowing where your food comes from, woven in with reflections on his life journey, including the issues of getting older – of which there are many.

Happening this Sunday 20 March from 3.30pm until 4.3opm at Muse Canberra, in the East Hotel, Kingston. See the website for more details
