A highly luxurious High Tea

HerCanberra Team

Summer holidays seem like they were years ago and you’re in desperate need of a break.

Your girlfriends are all in the same boat so you decide to host a pamper day where you can all unwind. But a hefty bill for that ‘fun’ champagne you shouted everyone (and an hour spent arranging delicate canapés) later and you’re wondering if the so called “pampering” was inadvertently more taxing than your work week had been. Let’s not even mention the nail polish that was spilt on your favourite rug.

But one host who won’t mind cleaning up after the last scone is polished off is the High Tea Party – an exclusive event coming to Canberra this September. Over two huge days of indulgence in one of the city’s most decadent venues, Hyatt Hotel Canberra, you’ll have the opportunity to eat, drink, pamper and shop. Yes – all at once.

This will be the High Tea Party’s 11th year, and the first of its kind in Canberra at the prestigious Hyatt Hotel. The events have become so popular that the Australian Women’s Weekly are now leading the way as their major partner.

“Women want to have a day out with their girlfriends and enjoy a catch up over a glass of bubbles and a cup of tea,” explains the event’s founder, Alison Dean.

Unlike a typical High Tea, this event is held in the five-star Hyatt Hotel Ballroom and in addition to their decadent High Tea spread, the only reason you’ll lift a finger here is during your manicure or hand massage.

Enjoy high tea from exquisite Royal Albert teaware accompanied with sparkling wine and a stunning fashion show at every sitting. To fill those beautiful cups there will be boutique tea for tasting and purchasing from To A Tea.

Also, the’s the opportunity to indulge in pampering experiences such as a nail bar, hand scrubs, skin care treatments and even cosmetics to trial and purchase on the day.

Each day The High Tea Party is open from 9am until 6pm and they ask that their guests choose a high tea sitting throughout the day that suits. Times are set at 10.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the Grand Ballroom daily along with an even more exclusive experience with their VIP Dining room at either 11am or 2pm. The rest of the day is for you to explore and enjoy the surrounds of the hotel.

APT Travel will also be hosting a champagne bar. Enjoy a glass (or two!) and remember to enter your details to go into the draw to win an amazing $45,000 prize for the chance to take your girlfriends to on a beautiful European cruise.

To summarise the day in one sentence?

“The High Tea Party is a gorgeous excuse to catch up with the girls, to have High Tea, champagne, pampering and shopping, all your favourites things!” says Alison.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Such a shame that this clashes with the annual Sweet Chari-Tea high tea event to support the paediatric unit at TCH. I would have gone to both if there was at least a week or so between them. https://www.facebook.com/sweetcharitea
