Her Say: Issue of the Week

Laura Peppas and Hayley O'Neill

In this weekly street series, we pick a hot topic of the week and ask for your thoughts…

After our recent article on Canberra’s longest standing restaurants, it had us thinking about the secret ingredients needed for a lasting restaurant, particularly in an industry with so much competition. Is it top service, ambience, consistency or all of the above? We head to the streets to find out.

This week, we asked, “Which Canberra restaurant keeps you coming back and why?”

“What keeps me coming back to a restaurant is a great atmosphere and if they change the menu regularly, because that keeps things interesting. My favourite place to dine in Canberra is Ha Ha Bar in Belconnen.” Kayley, Belconnen.

Issue 2

“I actually love going to try all the new restaurants, so we eat out all the time. Sometimes I find the service in Canberra a little indifferent. We’ve been back to Akiba in Civic four times because of the great atmosphere and food.” Meaghan, Bonython.

Issue 3

“My favourite restaurant in Canberra is Kingsland in Dickson; it’s vegan. What keeps me coming back is the family atmosphere and it has really great prices.” Anna, McKellar.

Issue 4

“My favourite restaurant in Canberra is Blu Ginger in Civic, it’s just really great atmosphere and they’re really fast at getting the food, so all around it’s a place I can rely on. I think the price and length of time waiting for food are the most important factors for a business to think about.” Sophie, Acton.

Issue 5

“I love Spud Bar in Garema Place, it’s just easy, the service is great and it’s healthy – there’s not many options for healthy takeaways in Canberra. As a student, price is a big factor.” Nina, Acton.

What do you think? We’d like to hear your thoughts too! If you have an opinion, leave your comment below.
