Do you know an awesome Canberra woman?

HerCanberra Team

Nominations are now open for the 2016 ACT Women’s Awards, recognising the achievements of women in our community.

We want to hear about women of all ages and backgrounds who are making a difference, big or small, in our community.

This year the awards will recognise exceptional women in three categories including ACT Women of the Year; ACT Senior Women of the Year; and ACT Young Women of the Year.

Recipients of the awards will have made outstanding contributions and demonstrated excellence in improving the status and lives of women and girls in the ACT.

The Awards will be presented as part of celebrations of International Women’s Day which is held annually on 8 March to recognise women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. The ACT Women’s Awards links the achievements of women living locally with International Women’s Day celebrations.

The ACT Government is committed to building a community where women and girls equally and fully participate in their community and their city.

We know that commitment is shared by women and girls across our community and these awards recognise and encourage those who work tirelessly to make this city a better place for other women to live.

Everyone knows an awesome Canberra woman. Being nominated by your own community can mean just as much as winning an award.

I hope people across the city will take the time to fill in a nomination as a way to say thank you to the excellent work women do across Canberra.

All nominees will automatically be considered for ACT Woman of the Year. Nominations will close on 27 November 2015.
