Meet the 2017 Lifeline Women of Spirit Finalists

HerCanberra Team

Fifteen inspiring Canberra women have been named finalists in Lifeline Canberra’s 2017 Women of Spirit Awards.

Announcing the finalists today via Facebook live, Lifeline Canberra CEO Carrie Leeson said women of spirit are all around us. They work tirelessly to give back to our community and expect nothing in return.

“We started the Women of Spirit Awards in 2007 to shine a light on the amazing and inspirational women in our community and recognise their contributions,” says Carrie. “Once again, we thank the Canberra community for helping us uncover 15 extraordinary women, who are giving back to our community in great ways.

“From advocating for mental health awareness and domestic violence victim support, to starting a revolution to remove social stigmas. And from providing hair services to women in need, to creating a respite and occasional care unit for chronically ill children, these 15 women are giving back to the Canberra community in selfless ways.

“Our annual Women of Spirit Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding women in our community; women who have overcome adversity, given back to the community and inspired others to do the same.

“I am pleased to announce the 2017 finalists, each who have warmed our hearts and deserve recognition for their amazing, and often tireless, work.”
