Almost a month ago, a group of high profile politicians, business owners and networkers have accepted the Heart Foundation’s challenge to eat well, be more active and raise funds to support all Canberra hearts in the Canberra Celebrity Heart Challenge.

Among those who have taken up the challenge are HerCanberra columnist Catherine Carter and Women in Business and HerCanberra associate Karen Coe as well as Jamie and Warren from Coordinate, HerCanberra’s office mates.

The celebrity challengers will raise funds for the life-saving work of Heart Foundation ACT throughout the 12 week challenge and the person who raises the most will be crowned Canberra’s Biggest Heart!

“I am excited to be part of this year’s Canberra Celebrity Heart Challenge. It’s a great opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of a good balance between a busy schedule and a healthy lifestyle,” said Professor Stephen Parker, Vice-Chancellor for University of Canberra.

Heart Foundation ACT CEO, Mr Tony Stubbs says that a number of celebrities have decided to work in pairs this year to support each other with their training and fund raising goals.

“We know that people who have a support network are more successful in achieving their health goals so it’s great to see the celebrities inspiring each other to be more active and make healthy choices,” said Mr Stubbs.

The celebrity challengers will have access to nutrition advice from the University of Canberra Nutrition and Dietetics Clinic students and their supervisor (Accredited Practising Dietician) and personal training sessions with celebrity trainer Lee Campbell from B.Firm.

It’s getting to the pointy end of the Celebrity Heart Challenge and numbers are tight! Karen has raised a whopping $1263 so far.
