Activewear Essentials

Posted on

Over the last few years, activewear has cemented its status as a fashion trend that’s here to stay.

Whether you’re a gym bunny, or just have a penchant for lycra, there’s a huge range of activewear on the market for every woman and every activity – from crossfit, to yoga, to brunch on the weekend.

Because there are so many different prints, colours and styles available, it can sometimes be difficult to decipher which pieces go together in a way that not only looks good, but is appropriate for the occasion or activity.

Canberra Outlet is home to an array of sports an active stores including the only Nike, Under Armour and Puma store in the ACT.

Peach perfect

If you’ve ever shied away from shades like millennial pink or more pastel tones because they’re too ‘girly’, peach is an easy and universally flattering way to experiment with the colour.

This outfit has combined peachy pieces with black and white. Pops of the colour in different tones create interest, while black leggings provide a sleek profile.  This cropped, oversized tee provides plenty of coverage in the bust, showing just a hint of midriff.

These Under Armour leggings look fabulous, but are also very practical and comfortable to wear. The soft, wide waistband gives support and ensures that the waistband stays in place.

When it comes to footwear, ASICS are many a fit girl’s favourite – and for good reason. They’re incredibly supportive shoes that are fantastic for running, giving plenty of ankle stability and cushioning under the heel.

A sweat towel is an absolute essential for the gym in keeping your sweat off the equipment and your face. This peach Puma towel is not only a gorgeous shade, but will also camouflage makeup stains far better than a plain white one will.

Namaste Navy

The coordinated sports bra and legging set is a trend that‘s becoming more popular on all kinds of bodies. It looks super stylish – particularly in a stunning floral – and also keeps you cool when your Vinyasa is heating up.

While we love this trend, we’re all too aware that the prospect of walking down Lonsdale Street (or even through the supermarket) with your full midriff exposed can be intimidating for many women. A light tee acts as the perfect transition piece, giving you coverage pre- and post-workout. This FILA tee in baby blue features a cute twist detail on the back, so your sports bra will still be visible.

While you can slip your sneakers off during class, these ASICS will give you the support should you decide to take a post-practice stroll or jog – plus, the colours complement the legging and bra set perfectly.

A metal drink bottle will keep your water cold right through your session (yes, even that 90-minute class) and this TYPO backpack has plenty of space for all your workout essentials.

Asics shoes, $179
Cotton On Body sports bra $29.95
Cotton On Body tights $39.95

Emerald Energy

There’s no need to reach for a boring hoody on those cool mornings  – this asymmetrical ASICS jacket will keep you warm, without sacrificing style.

A pair of good-quality, stylish leggings can set you back quite a bit, but you can find fashion-forward activewear labels like The Upside or Cleo Harper for a fraction of the price at TK Maxx. These jungle-green tights are made of a super soft, ultra-flattering fabric.

The lacing detail at the front of this Cotton On Body sports bra is super on-trend, and the heather grey hue will match with most items in your active wardrobe. Pair it with a grey Under Armour cap, some monochrome performance sneakers, and (of course) a water bottle to keep you hydrated, and you’ll be ready for everything from a heavy weights session to a walk around Lake Burley Griffin.

ASICS wrap jacket, $105
Cotton On Body sports bra, $24.95
The Upside Sport tights, $49.95 from TK Maxx
Avanti waterbottle, $16.95 from TK Maxx
Adidas Pureboost, $170 from Podium Sports
Under Armour cap, $30.00
