Lusso: Italian Luxury in Manuka

Emily Crabb

It’s no secret that Canberra’s fashion scene is quietly catching up with the heavyweights of style; Sydney and Melbourne.

As you read this, the fashion talent of Canberra is working away to grow a retail community that truly reflects the style (and voracious shopping appetite) of our locals.

One of our staunchest fashion hotspots is Manuka, its leafy, quiet alleyways a shopper’s dream and one major contributor aiding the development of our fight for fashion is Manuka’s newest high-end boutique, Lusso By Paris. This store is a big step up for Canberra and it means we no longer have to turn to our laptops to shop the latest trends of Italian luxury.

The name Lusso literally traslates to ‘Luxury’ in Italian and the boutique embodies this in everything from the stock adorning the rails to the indulgent internal fit out. Concepts Interior Design has created an interior that not only encapsulates the brand, but makes the shopper feel as if they have stepped into a truly European boutique. Featuring white, polished marble, mirrors and accents of copper, the interior compliments the items stocked and acts as a canvas, showcasing the products in all their glory.

Lusso was founded by Paris O’Donnell, who operates the business with her store manager Kerry Andrew. Each item stocked was hand chosen by Paris and Kerry personally on visits to Milan. Items you can expect to find direct from Italy include high-end accessories such as shoes, bags, gloves and coats.

We had the pleasure of attending the launch party of Lusso, which was hosted by local fashion advocate and icon Sarah Kelly who is herself invaluable to the local style scene. Sarah was kind enough to provided us with a sneaky insight into her enviable style and showed us her top picks from Lusso.

“Knee length boots with stud detailing are must have this season,” she says. “With a heeled and flat alternative, there is an option for every style and occasion. The tan leather side bag is versatile and sleek, featuring gold zippers and hardware; it will work with almost every outfit.”

Want to jazz the bag up a little?

Sarah has you covered; the fluffy key chain is the accessory of the season. Inspired by Fendi and seen on celebs like Kylie Jenner, it will completely change the aesthetic of any bag. The black loafers are the perfect take on a casual shoe. With a hint of cowhide, they are the epitome of subtle, trendy perfection.

Emily particularly enjoys treating herself with clothes she cannot justify buying and eating anything from a brunch menu. More about the Author
