Street Style & Her Say: The Brave Edition

In this weekly street series we pick a hot topic of the week and ask for your thoughts…
Last Saturday’s CBR Brave ice hockey match provided a great opportunity for Fashion Editor Hayley and Editorial Coordinator Bea to scope out some sports-keen Canberra women’s style and opinions.
We wanted to capture the energy and atmosphere of the Brave game and pique the interest of the crowd, so we chose to ask women about the future of Canberra sports. The CBR Brave’s popularity has swelled this season, leading to games where a sold-out crowd reaches fever pitch, a whole city rallying behind a unified team.
While Hayley scoped out which attendees had achieved the perfect balance of warmth and style, Bea asked Canberra women in the audience:
“After the success of the 2015 CBR Brave season, which sport(s) would you like to see Canberrans get behind next?”
Her Say: Rachael, Nicholls
“We love hockey, so ice hockey. There’s enough support for the Brave but they need to get the other divisions up like the women’s league.”
Her Say: Narelle, Nicholls
“I’d love to see more ice hockey – we’re very much hockey people and there’s a great atmosphere ”
Her Say: Emma
“I’m originally from Canberra but I just moved to Melbourne, which is like the sporting capital of the world but I went to a game in Melbourne but it wasn’t half as packed as this game. So for me, I wish we had [more crowds] in Melbourne. There’s such a great atmosphere here.”
Street Style: Jenny, Franklin
“My outfit is a bit mixed. I’ve got my boyfriend’s jacket – he told me it would be cold! My cardigan is G-STAR, my skirt is Seed and the glasses are Chanel. I wanted to wear something warm but bright – that’s why I layered all black with the yellow.”
Street Style: Michelle, Kambah
“I’m wearing a teal poncho and jeans, trying to keep warm. I like wearing a lot of teal, it’s my favourite colour. Mt outfit is Kmart and Millers. There’s always new styles coming out and it’s easy to keep up with if it’s [inexpensive]”
Street Style: Sophie, Theodore
“Trying to stay warm but stylish. I’m wearing mixed brands – Big W, Kmart and UGG, and I’m very warm! My style is semi-formal/casual. Layering a nice dressy jacket with jeans. At the moment I’m into black, white and blue, more neutrals.”
