Canberra makeup artist Zoe Krahe is expanding her empire

Debby Harrington

Owner of Z & Co. Studio (formerly Zaija), Zoe Krahe, has just launched her very own range of eyelashes – ZED Lashes, with a super chic party over the weekend at The Social Club.

Zoe says it was an obvious move for her because she’s been wearing lashes since she was 15. Developing the lash line has been a project in the works for about 12 months.

“This was an interesting journey,” she says. “I lost count of how many iterations of each lash was developed to ensure the look and feel was exactly what I wanted.”

The makeup artist who has worked all over the world, says she’s very particular about which lashes she uses, for herself and her clients.

“Some of my most favourite lashes are purchased outside Australia, not easily accessible and can be quite expensive,” she says. “Due to my extensive use of lashes, I created the lash line incorporating my most favourite aspects of each lash focusing mostly on glamorous styles whilst maintaining affordability.”

Zoe is taking on the big beauty brands but says she has made her range of lashes unique, injecting her personality into them too.

“There are currently seven lash styles that I’ve designed and I decided on quality over quantity,” she says. “They are handmade 3D mink and I created each style with a particular look in mind to be able to work for all eye shapes.”

“The lash bands were made to be strong enough to last multiple wears, but still flexible to ensure maximum comfort.”

“They are a deeper black than standard lashes due to the carbon black pigment used, providing a more glamourous look.”

And glamourous they are, from the pale pink packaging to the feel and look of the actual lashes – you can tell no detail has been overlooked.

When it came to the name ZED Lashes, for Zoe it was about putting her name to something she’s proud of.

“Naming is always challenging,” she says. “I wanted it to be punchy, to be associated to me without actually using my name and I really love the way ZED Lashes looks and sounds.”

The lashes are on sale now at Z & Co. Studio in the city and a website will be launched in January. After a well-earned break over the holidays, Zoe says she’ll be right back to work with plenty more planned in 2018.

“The beauty industry is highly competitive and forever changing in style and looks,” she says. “I work with amazing creative woman who work collaboratively with each other and other industry leaders to ensure we are always on the edge of thought, leadership and change.”

This is definitely just the start for Zoe.
